Horns have a rising on axis (polar) response, but maintain a constant power (off axis) response. Cone/dome have a more constant on axis response but a falling power response.
- A mid range speaker that attempts to hit produce full range of sound will get fuddled because it's trying to make sounds beyond it's capabilities. Usually a mid range speaker will be set up to ignore the extreme lows and highs to avoid such conditions.
- My plan is to use an NC400 for either midrange or tweeter and either an NC400 or a UcD700 for the midbass. The advantage being saving some money while having more power on tap, despite the driver having 95 dB sensitivity. Do you think I will hear a difference between NC400 and UcD700 in this range? - Mar 08, 2010 · As for the difference: A component set aka separates include a pair of midbass drivers and and pair of tweeters with an inline passive crossover network wired to 2 channels. Now they do make 3 way components as well but are much more expensive. Pricing ranges from generally $100 up thousands.
